In Troy, Alabama this past September a five-year-old girl was crossing the street with friends to go get ice cream when she was run over by a sport utility vehicle. The driver never stopped, and police are still investigating the hit-and-run accident.

The girl suffered many injuries as a result of the accident, including a broken leg, ruptured kidney, broken pelvis and more. She has fortunately made a strong recovery and is now back home with her family. An article in the Troy Messenger tells more:

Although Carter's physical injuries are slowly healing, one emotional wound still remains- the question of who was driving the vehicle.

Witnesses described the vehicle that hit Carter as a light blue, possibly sky blue, Ford Expedition with tinted windows and a state of Alabama Helping Schools tag. The witnesses did not get the tag number.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Troy Police Department at 566-0500, or through the secret witness line at 566-5555.
