HRT side effects and risks

Many doctors recommend their female patients take hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for a variety of reasons, including protecting the heart and helping curb mood swings during menopause. However, patients should be aware of the HRT risks and side effects.

Many women have reported serious side effects while using HRT, including blood clots or deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which can be fatal.

Like the birth control pill or Ortho Evra birth control patch, the high amount of estrogen in HRT can increase the risk for blood clots and other significant cardiovascular events, such as heart attack or stroke.

If you or someone you know has suffered from side effects related to HRT or other drugs, you should consult your doctor as soon as possible. You may want to discuss your case with a personal injury attorney.
