The Tampa Bay Business Journal just put out an interesting article about an insurance industry survey that says many Americans are underinsured for hosting large parties at their homes.

With the Super Bowl coming up this Sunday, and so many Americans planning to host parties, the possibilities for guests leaving the party and getting into motor vehicle accidents increases.

According to the data, about 28.5 million people are hosting parties from the holidays to the Super Bowl, and 21.3 million of them are not adequately insured by personal umbrella policies. This could be detrimental should someone who has been drinking leave their party and cause a serious or deadly accident. Laws in more than 30 states can hold the host accountable in such incidents.
